Steps in LIne

Dance for fun, exercise, balance, coordination, and to learn a new skill. Line dancing is great fun while you improve memory skills, strengthen bones, develop better balance, relieve stress, and put a smile on your face. Each dance is broken down first, demonstrated, and then danced to contemporary music that you will enjoy! Dance to some of the old favorites, and also add some of the newest line dances. No need to have a partner; this is something for everyone, and no experience is necessary! Dancing is a perfect combination of physical activity, social interaction, and mental stimulation.
It’s a full body workout for the mind, body and spirit. Paul Hughes is a Line & Ballroom Dance Instructor and teaches group classes at various Senior, Recreation & Community Centers throughout MetroWest Boston. His mission, purpose and passion in life is to offer something of value and meaning to others that will enhance and transform people's lives for the better through sharing the many positive physical, mental and social benefits of dancing. Testimonials

Line Dance Class Testimonial
I have done every type of dancing for many years – tap, ballet, square, round, ballroom and line. At present, my favorite is line dancing. I lost my dancing partner (my husband) ten years ago which makes it difficult to ballroom and others with no partner: thus, line dancing. You get to socialize, exercise both mind and body and most of all have so much fun. You don’t need a partner or prior dance experience. All you need is wanting to learn something fun and enjoyable.
There are many line dance instructors out there, but my favorite is Paul Hughes. He is local, and his classes are so enjoyable. He teaches all levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. He goes over every step as many times as needed and does the dance along with you. He breaks it down into counts and makes sure everyone gets it, not leaving anyone up in the air and lost.
Paul does his homework: locating, learning and teaching the most recent dances and older ones as well. The older ones are coming back again and are played at dances, weddings, etc. because those are known by the majority of attendees at those events. Paul is personable, funny, kind, giving, and always helping people. His students are faithful and go to several of his classes in different towns during the week. Line dancing is for all ages. He modifies the steps to accommodate his student’s abilities. If you can’t cross your foot behind, don’t. He shows you an easier step that gets you where you’re supposed to go with the correct amount of counts. You don’t have to take my word for it. Try it. You’ll love it. Paul is a great teacher. Get out of the house, meet new people, get some exercise and most of all have fun. I promise you, you will not regret it. Paul and line dancing are keeping me healthy and young. Let him do that for you also.

Loving your class!
I am a brain injury survivor. Prior to my accident I danced every Tuesday for approx. 5 years with friends. Haven't been able to line dance for over 3 years. Your beginner class is just the right pace for my recovery. Thank You.
Sincerely,Lori
Westwood COA Line Dance TestimonialI am enjoying the Line Dancing here at WCOA. Paul is an excellent instructor. I have had fun and most important because of medical issues the line dancing allows me to exercise with health benefits — better circulation, and weight management. Paul allows us to learn and dance as best we can without taking away the fun of it. I would be very disappointed if this class was ever cancelled. Thank you. God bless you. I am introducing you to Paul Hughes who teaches line dancing here at the Center. He is very kind, thoughtful and a wonderful line dancing instructor. Line dancing is still a small program here, but I am hopeful that with Paul's leadership, it will grow.
Lina Arena-DeRosa Director Westwood Council on Aging Framingham Public LibraryMarch, 28, 2023 Paul has taught 4 beginner line dancing workshops for us in the last 4 months. These classes have been very popular and very well received. Paul is knowledgeable, encouraging, and he has a good sense of humor. Good exercise and lots of laughs! People want more line dancing with Paul!
